What you need

An iPhone with iOS 16.0 or later.
Tott is made for iPhone, in portrait.

How to play

Each board gives you number tiles and a target.
Pick two tiles, then add (+), subtract (−), multiply (×) or divide (÷).
The two tiles merge into one new tile. The first tile you pick goes first: 8, then 3, then − makes 5.
Keep going until one tile is left. If it equals the target exactly, you have solved the board.
Some boards can be solved in more than one way. Each way is a route.

Ways to play

Journey: Chapters of boards, at your own pace. 5 take-backs a board; stuck with none left, start the board again, free.
Daily: One new puzzle a day, the same for everyone.
Gauntlet: Boards one after another, with no clock. 3 undos and 3 hints a run. When you are stuck with no undos left, the run ends.
Timed: Boards against the clock. Time left when you solve a stage carries to the next one. The run ends when the clock reaches 0.
Math Lit: The target is a clue to work out first, such as 3² + 15. Every stage you clear adds a block to your tower. A run has 3 hearts. The only mode where beads buy help.
Pro: The target is an equation to solve, such as 3x − 4 = 68, or a short word problem. A run has 3 hearts, 3 undos and 3 hints. Pro comes with Tott Plus; its coached intro is free.

The Gauntlet, Timed, Math Lit and Pro each have one ranked run a day, the same for everyone, and practice runs.

Questions

When does a new day start?

The Daily changes at midnight where you are, on your iPhone’s local time.
The ranked runs change at midnight UTC. In the UK that is 1 am in summer.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no Tott account, and nothing to sign up for.

Where is my progress saved?

On your iPhone only. We never receive it.
Deleting Tott deletes your progress. We cannot restore it, because we never hold a copy.
Tott Plus and Unlock Everything are safe. Restore purchases gets them back from the App Store.
Bought beads are kept on this iPhone. Like your progress, they are lost if Tott is deleted. An iPhone backup keeps them.

Are there ads or tracking?

No ads, ever. No analytics and no tracking.

What is free, and what is never sold?

Tott is a complete game, free to play.
Hints, the Daily and every accessibility setting are never sold, and neither is another go at a ranked run.
Outside Math Lit, the help is the same for everyone: undo as often as you like in the Daily, 5 take-backs a board in the Journey, and 3 undos and 3 hints a run in the Gauntlet and Pro.
Beads are earned by playing, in every mode. Bead packs are sold too.
Beads buy help in Math Lit only: an extra undo, a Step, or one more heart in a practice run.
In a ranked Math Lit run, Tott asks before your first buy. After it, that run is not sent to the leaderboards.
There are no ads and no energy, so there is nothing to pay to remove.
Tott Plus (a monthly or yearly subscription), Unlock Everything (a one-time purchase) and bead packs are optional.

I bought something and it is not there.

In Tott, tap Restore purchases.
It asks the App Store for Tott Plus and Unlock Everything bought with this Apple Account, and puts them back.
Beads cannot be restored: the App Store does not restore them.
If you paid and it still has not arrived, email us with the date and we will help.

How do I cancel Tott Plus?

Open Settings on your iPhone.
Tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Tott Plus.
Tap Cancel Subscription.

How do I ask for a refund?

Apple handles refunds.
Go to reportaproblem.apple.com.

Can my family share it?

Yes. Tott Plus and Unlock Everything work with Family Sharing. Bead packs are not shared.

Something went wrong. How do I report it?

In Tott, open Settings, then About, and tap Copy diagnostics.
Paste it into an email to us, and tell us what happened.
It holds the app version and build, the iOS version, the iPhone model, and the app’s recent notes, errors among them.
It holds no name and no identifier. Tott sends nothing by itself.

Accessibility

Tott is set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface the Braille Institute designed for readers with low vision.
